Montague Writers Guild

Begun in 2008, this group has met regularly at the Montague Library and also produced three books of collected pieces by the members. While the first edition of the first book is discontinued, the other three are available to order through Amazon or from the current  coordinator (Tom Schultz) of the writers guild at  schultz@pei.sympatico.ca. These collections focus on details of Island life and history in both poetry and prose.

Prince Edward Island Tales
(ISBN 978-0-9783995-3-5) (discontinued in favor of second edition) (For link to Amazon click here)

Prince Edward Island Tales second edition
(ISBN 978-0-9783995-6-6)
(For link to Amazon click here) This collection of poetry and short prose pieces by members of the Montague (PEI, Canada) Library Writers Guild gives multiple perspectives on life on the Island. Among things new to the second edition are pieces about Coyote problems, waiting for breakfast, a missing boat, an island towed to the Caribbean by fishermen, and an exposition on the beauty of the 3 seasons that make up the rest of life on the Island. Profusely decorated with black & white photographs, this book makes a great gift for people ‘from away’ as well as a reminder to the Islanders of the things they take for granted.

More Prince Edward Island Tales
(ISBN 978-0-9866065-0-2)
(For link to Amazon click here) This second collection of stories and poems by members of the Montague (Prince Edward Island, Canada) Library Writers Guild continues the variety of the first book with a totally new set of pieces describing life and history of the Island. There are patriotic poems, delicate pieces about lovers walking along the beach, a story of a sailing trip and a poem about a shipwreck. Several pieces describe the experience of newly moving here and the challenges of starting a farm. There are even Irish heritage pieces about Blue Moons and Banshees. The pieces are lavishly illustrated with black and white pictures of many Island locations.

VOICES
(ISBN 978-0-9918033-8-5)
This is the third book of collected poems and writings, in this case by the group that, at least temporarily, swelled to sixteen members. This collection is enhanced by a full-colour interior with many photographs, but, as with the two earlier collections,  insisted that all the pieces retain a focus on Prince Edward Island–as the contributors remember it and as they love it now.
