Tom Schultz’s books

I am both the publisher of all the Wood Islands Prints books and  the author of three titles. It all began with an electronics-programming textbook that I wrote several decades ago for a commercial publisher, Prentice Hall. The first edition included a lot of assembly-language programming while the second edition (in two volumes) focussed almost entirely on C programming along with electronic interface circuit design. When that was declared out of print, I laid out a third edition which was accepted by a small POD (print on demand) publisher, but when they failed to pay any royalties over several years, I took it back, discovered I could easily become a “publisher” as well as an author, and published C and the 8051 4th edition (ISBN 978-0-9783995-0-4). All four editions of this book were specialized texts for electronics students and designers who want to program 8051-family microcontrollers in the C language. This book is described in much detail in a separate part of this site.

Having discovered how easy it was to become a “publisher” I decided to collect my early impressions of Prince Edward Island in a book, Prince Edward Island Seen “From Away” (ISBN 978-0-9783995-1-1). It includes observations as a first-time visitor, as a tourist, and as a resident–all written before the newness had worn off. The Amazon page link is here: Prince Edward Island Seen “From Away”

Revisiting Scripture
(ISBN 978-1-987852-01-1)
This massive book is about taking a fresh look at how much Biblical support exists for teachings I’d heard ‘all my life.’
“The Bible says so… doesn’t it?”
Some four decades ago I began a search to answer that question and this book is the result. Covering over 65 significant… often disputed… topics, I have taken the unusual step of including, beside each topic discussion, the full text of all the relevant scripture passages. Besides letting you decide for yourself what you really believe, this will help you understand why other Christians believe differently. That should help you obey the command to love them anyway!

A revision and expansion, Revisiting Scripture, Second Edition (ISBN 978-1-5456-3899-2) is published by Xulon Press (actually printed by Lightning Source as are all the other Wood Islands Prints books) in hopes of accessing more effective marketing help. While the text was being revised (mostly for more clarity with only a relatively small bit of new material), the layout was changed to have the scripture passages directly in the text flow rather than in the left column/white space of the first edition which had proven to be somewhat confusing as well as very complicated to lay out.

An education edition (ISBN 978-1-987852-17-2) is directly published by me since the second edition published by Xulon Press is not accessible for direct shipment at publisher cost. The interior texthas been slightly edited from the second edition.

Never the Same Mistake Twice: Becoming a Sailor on Prince Edward Island  (still in progress–not published yet) will be about my decade of experience with a 26′ Norman Cross-design trimaran with a combination of discussions about boat alterations and hardware and accounts of sailing trips in the area.
